"Friend Like Me"

Ava had her first dance performance over the weekend!  It was Pony Express Days here in Eagle Mountain and part of the festivities is a carnival with showcases from local talent.  Ava's dance studio performed some of the dances from their upcoming dance recital (she'll dance in that as well) and she her class was chosen to showcase their tap routine.  Her class is dancing to "Friend Like Me" from Aladdin (also known as the Genie song) and she was so excited to dress up like Jasmine!  She is still a bit shy and tends to hang onto me when she's in a situation that makes her nervous.  I was worried that she wouldn't dance;  that she would get onstage and either just stand there looking confused or get on stage and start crying and screaming because I wasn't there.  Luckily, she's formed a bit of an attachment to the student helper, Jessica and once she was holding Jessica's hand, she was good to go!  As soon as she got onstage, her smile lit up her face and she was beaming!  She looked right at me and the rest of the family (Aubre and Chris, Mom and Dad and Lucas and all their kids came out to support Ava) to make sure we were all watching.  She's so funny!  She performed her best ever and as she came off stage, Camden and Aspen ran up to her and told her, "You did such a great job, Ava!".  And Sean gave her a big hug and kiss.  With that kind of support, how could she fail?

After the performance, we bought some tickets and let the kids ride some of the carnival rides while the adults gorged on carnival food.  It was such a wonderful day!  And we are so proud of our Sissy Girl!
