The Saturday after Christmas, we spent the day with Lyle's family. We started at the Energy Solutions Arena to watch BYU cream Virginia Tech. For awhile, Ava sat with Grandpa, chewing on chicken nuggets...
...but, as soon as Denise and Terrin arrived, Ava and Aspen immediately moved to their laps. All kids love Terrin and Denise. Maybe because they're not really adults yet and are still kids too? Ava loves to call Terrin, and then when he looks at her, she hides her face and giggles.
After the game, we decided to head to City Creek for shopping and browsing until the lights at Temple Square came on. Ava and Aspen wanted to ride the "train" (Trax), so we went and waited for a train...and waited. The first train was incredibley full, as was the second...no room, no room at the inn. :( We waited for 30 minutes for two trains and decided to just walk.
Once it got dark enough (but not quite completely dark), we headed out to see lights. It was bitter cold, but wonderful. My holiday doesn't seem complete if I don't see the lights. I never force myself to go if it's too cold or snowing, but the years I haven't made it, Christmas doesn't seem like Christmas.
After the lights, Mom took us to Deseret Book so the kids could pull the train whistle.
Later that evening, the kidlets were exhuasted. Ava fell asleep in Sean's bed and I couldn't resist a picture. Who knows if it will happen again?
